Next, we continue to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, also known as the "Batalha Monastery," a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Built by King João I in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for his victory over the Castilians at the Battle of Aljubarrota, this monument is a true testament to Portugal’s history.
Our tour then takes us to Nazaré, Portugal’s most traditional fishing village, known for its long sandy beach, colorful wooden boats, and fish vendors who maintain the centuries-old tradition of wearing the iconic "seven skirts." In 2011, Garrett McNamara rode an unimaginable 30-meter wave at Praia do Norte, bringing worldwide fame to this small village, attracting watersport enthusiasts from all over the globe.
Finally, we visit Óbidos, a stunning walled medieval town with whitewashed houses reflecting its Arabic heritage. At the top, you’ll see the Óbidos Castle, built in the 12th century and considered one of Portugal’s Seven Wonders. Known as the "Town of Queens," it was traditionally gifted by Portuguese monarchs to their wives. Don’t miss the chance to taste the famous Ginjinha de Óbidos, a cherry liqueur traditionally served in chocolate cups.
